Crowns and Bridges

 Dental Crowns and Bridges Thornhill

Dental crowns and bridges are prosthetic tooth that are placed on top of existing teeth or implants. Unlike dentures, crowns and bridges are fixed and should be treated like your own teeth. They can only be removed or placed on by a dentist. When placed on top of a damaged tooth, they completely cap it. Reasons why you might need a crown include covering a weakened tooth that has undergone root canal treatment, covering a fractured tooth, to protect a weak tooth from fracturing, or to improve the appearance of a damaged or discoloured tooth.

A bridge involves multiple crowns that are connected and supported by surrounding tooth once they are cemented on. Bridges are particularly useful in filling the gap caused by one or more missing teeth. These gaps result in permeant bone loss, as well as recession of the surrounding gum tissue.
